ROBOPHILIA part2

Now here comes the Robophilia part 2….u know ,before writing this post I was watching the movie serendipity…and I must tell u the things that happened on 28th of march was not at all serendipity and totally the opposite of it “the series of unfortunate accidents”….i woke up at 6 am when I had to be there in college premises at that time….i reached there at quarter to 7 and what I saw was “sunsaan campus’…..nupoor had to receive the firm members and she had to accompany them for the breakfast…and siddharth was busy wd something….so I got the company of siddhath around quarter past 7 …..With AB ma’am projector and all other things with me I was feeling restless there…students started to come….we had told them to come at 8 am but ‘bharatiya paramparao ke anusar late hona to banta hai’…the mentors came at quarter to 9 but still one problem …… “WHERE WERE THE CHIEF GUEST AND THE GUEST OF HONOR???” none of the HODs were in Kota that day except Anupurna Bhargava madam…..and the workshop was not at all going to start without light lamping by the chief guest…we requested the mentors to keep the students engaged while I had some job to be done at hostel….on the way to hostel I invited AB ma’am to be the chief guest there…..she denied firstly but then she agreed…she tried to escape the situation by saying that she had a function at home ,and she hadn’t prepared the speech but when such a lovely lady (that’s me)requests anyone for anything then u have to be callous to deny it ;-) .She agreed and said that she would be there within 15mnts…..it was now time to mark the presence of students…and I was pleased to observe that wthe session had full attendance….

AB madam came and program started and as a guest of honor we invited Rishabh boss from final year….he was the one who had won many prizes for his performances in the robo wars.
Then I went to brij bakers to bring the refreshment for the mentors and the chief guests….but hang on….the scooty which I was driving was running on economy…I mean reserve lag gaya tha…and there was no petrol pump known to me on the way…I inquired about from a person and he told me that the nearest one was in jawahar nagar….now I was tensed…if it got stopped in the midway!!!! But by God’s grace it dint happen….on the way back to college I was told to bring a marker…..as the mentors had to teach students the connection on the board…I brought it…but u know what happened…it turned out to be a PERMANENT MARKER!!!and v used it on the board….
The most tedious job was to persuade the volunteers to bring the refreshments from dadabari in the scorching sun …
the first session was over and I went to the guest house where the mentors and some of our team members were already present…..the second session was going to start soon…and u know what..had all the copies of attendance sheet…and without marking the presence on the attendance sheet we hadn’t to let anyone enter the seminar hall…..and I was at guest house and some team members were struggling with people and were nt letting them to enter….they locked the channel gate…. and as an action heroine I came running fast like anything from the blocks parking to hall……and as soon as I came the channel gate was opened (see the VIP effect ;-p) and we let them enter…..the second session had 90+ students which was above expectation….and we had to accommodate them….on the bench of 2 we requested students to accommodate 3…
The second session ended too…and all congratulated us for the good management of things….well to be more precise I was having the feedback from all of them…..and yes the feedback forms …..it was good to have such feedback ….so we dealt with the students…..
Now we had to deal with the money……
Word of advice----NEVER EVER HANDLE ACCOUNTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yaar sachhi bahut lafde hote hai accounts ke chakkar mein…..
The most unfortunate thing that happened that happened during handeling accounts was that they(workshop India) accidentally took my favorite and lovely grey colored sliding box and packed it with their luggage!!! I am still missing that lovely box :’-(
Then we had to return all the things that we had issued….first of all I handed over that lcd projector to AB ma’am …and she kept telling me that this kind of workshop was the part of curriculum in iit’s etc…..
And we deposited that audio system to estate office too…. ‘bina mic gumaye and amplifier patke hue’---estate office wale khadus bande ,r u listening!!
After that we pasted “THANKS A MILLION” poster in every academic block to show our gratitude to the participants!
It became successful Robophilia not ‘Robophobia’!!!!!
Life was not back to normal now……now came the announcement of luminere ’10 and we again got busy with the things…..
Before wrapping up I want to share some pranks that were played or were being planned to be played……first of all Ashu Boss made us fool be saying us that they (he and his roommate) were some guys from MIT and wanted to attend it….we reached MIT for promoting the event also….and when I saw him in the canteen I was shocked….and when he approached us and told us the truth I was taken aback…..
Then he offered us help because he wanted to encourage us as it was his dream also to conduct such kinda workshop but at that time teachers didn’t allow……
Next was the plan of some notorious element which were going to edit our poster from e planet and edit the details, the phone numbers, the fee structure. and paste it everywhere….
This wasn’t enouugh for these elements…..they were even planning to blow the fuse of the seminar hall…..that was literally shameful…
And yes the day before workshop all the lists of participants were torn off from notice board and this caused serious environment in the campus
and yes…..all u participants you all are getting your certificates and cds very soon…..
All in one and one in all entire event was successful…and this was only possible with the coordination and cooperation of…

ROBOPHILIA

ROBOPHILIA….my first experience of managing and organizing a workshop which apart from teaching me management tactics also taught me many things…regarding the mindset friends and foes….regarding the ppl who want to make an event successful and the ppl who want to ruin it….regarding the hardships which we have to suffer just because we are dealing with UCE’s administration…
The very thought of organizing a robotics workshop was itself a challenging task….because getting the permission for such kinda workshop was very difficult….everybody said us that it wont be possible as the administration is too lame and they wont approve it…..but we tried our luck and approached Mr. Ranjan Maheshwari Sir…in the beginning he was not satisfied with the idea…because recently BITS Pilani had organized such workshop and some of his student had attended it…so it was in his mind that most of the people had attended and the response wont be such nice….but we tried and convinced him….we did a survey….hang on…..i forgot to mention about the “WE” occurring again and again…..WE ARE….EISHA BUDKI---SIDDHARTH KHANDELWAL---NUPOOR AGARWAL…..the trio which continued working day and night for the forthcoming week….and were buried in the piles of permission letters, registration slips and invitation letter and many more documents…and yes say kudos to me as I had tolerated some really weird weirdo at that time on phone …and I do believe now that God exist…because He gave me power and patience to handle these wacko people…….continuing the main saga……we conducted the survey in first year….and I must mention one guy from electrical branch who was so excited that he then personally approached us and said ‘koi aaye na aaye main to zaroor aaunga’….and I must say one thing that at that time the response from cs it branch was worst and they were such a dumbos that they were asking us ‘hume kya karma hai aap bata do’….duh….the survey was done…thanks to the non glamorous past two semesters I yr’s crowd agreed to participate because no cultural or technical event took place in the past two sems…roaming in the whole campus….from e planet to RM sir’s room to all academic blocks to admin block and to proctor office too….bcz we had deca in those days and I had to give my presence on behalf of my other friends too….and in this busy schedule we had to have our 2nd sem’s mark sheet and other documents too from proctor office….nd their carefree attitude made my blood boil... ‘kal aana…Monday ko aana…3 bje ke baad aana’…arre ek marksheet dene mein unka kya jaata hai yaar!!!!
Chalo …leave it….finally after going from one office to another….RM sir’s room to S.C.Jain sir’s room to director sir’s room and listening to all people’s ‘bakwas ‘that this was all in vain, we finally had our approved letter in our hands…that was the moment of excitement and we were really elated…I still remember the first guy who congratulated us on the approval of idea….he was rachit along with rajat, shalini ,shyamli, shubhangiand niharika..Rachit appreciated me and said ‘well done, tumhari itni bhaga daudi kaam to ayi’!!!that was the moment to remember…
After that it was the time to spend days at e planet and printing posters designing them, registration slips…finding fonts…printing invitation letter….and many more tasks…and the day came when we pasted the posters at every possible place in the academic block….well don’t ask me about boys hostel…..u all must be knowing its fate there…in girls hostel the thoughts erupted from their mouth and that too not in front of us but behind our backs…the common problem with most of the girls u know!!
Now the real task had begun…permission ….permissions….permissionssssssssssss….. and to tackle those officials….the first and foremost problem was the venue….the mechanical seminar hall…and we had to have the keys from the mechanical department….on the request of RM sir they agreed to issue us the keys but the story line changed when just a day before the workshop we came to know that Manish Chaturvedi sir was reluctant to give us the keys because the very next day after the workshop TCS was coming to recruit students from our college and he wanted the seminar hall for some purpose and he was afraid that we wud make it messy with the cartons of refreshment and disposables etc…..only we know that how we assured him that every thing would be as it is in that hall..he was assured and he agreed to give us the keys...btw one thing I wud tell u all that mechanical department ke bando ko hi nahi malum hota ki exactly keys hai kiske pass….not even the HOD….we wandered from one place to another, one office to another, even ptp in search of the person who had the keys….nd finally got it…and the most tedious task was to have that audio system…..oh ho…..that ‘khadus’banda from the estate office was literally ‘khadus’…. He was always repeating two lines ‘pichli anukiti mein ladko ne mike gguma diya….uska kuch ata pata nahi hai….and the other …..amplifier d block mein patak diya…aur kisi aur block se mila….’we said himthat we r responsible students, we wud deposit our id card for ur \asurance..but he kept repeating the same thing… I tried to use the cooling effect and innocently said him ‘sir pakka koi problem nahi hogi’ but he was like a violent wild animal…..now we approached
RM sir to handle this man…..he too had problem with dealing with this man…but then he agreed….meanwhile this thing clicked in our mind that it was Sunday when the workshop was going to take place and we had just the keys of seminar hall ang not of the channel gate!!! We had to plead then to the guards whho used to sit on university gate…..chalo der aaye durust aaye….then we had to plan the most awaited and delicious part of the workshop…the refreshment….we had to make such a menu that no one cud say that it was mediocre and they had no value for money….and my only request was to add cadbury’s shots in the menu….lekin kisi ne nahi mana …we even had to roam around CDP sir for the keys of guest house….again a permission letter!!!areee ….how can I forget that permission letter of anupurna bhargava ma’am for that lcd projector…..i kept it with extreme care and she kept warning us.. ‘agar koi bhi problem aati hai to aap iske responsible honge and aap repair karayenge..’..she even added this point in that permission letter. well I wont say much about it because we needed that projector and I had to listen all the care and precaution measures which AB ma’am was giving to me regarding that projector…otherwise despite having 32 projectors in college we had to rely on electrical department’s projector as electronics department’s projector was issued to cs dept…mech department’s projector was busy with TCS’s placement drive and maths department was too ‘khadus’to issue us the projector (waise this khaduspanti of maths department was told to us by teachers only…maine apna koi masala add nahi kiya hai…)…see the gravity of my care towards that projector that I use to keep all my books on table…all my clothes on chair….my bag on bed…but I made a special place for that projector in my cupboard and kept it under lock and key…otherwise all the other things …were in college in seminar hall but I cudnt trust the notorious elements of our clg….kya pata lock tod kar karamate kar jate…(move on….. I will tell u all about the pranks of these elements...)and I just opened it once in hostel to check whether it was working properly or not….and guess with which movie I tested it—Harry Potter and the sorcerer’s stone …and one thing I forgot to mention….we really got the good response…we were expecting just 80 entries and we got 180+entries….the publicity which we had done in each and every class is worth mentioning…the other two coordinators were so obsessed with its promotion that they even requested some seniors for promoting the event in 2nd year because persuading the 2nd yr to take part was the most dicey part of the whole event…you can all understand why….and that too in the ec branch….ec had just5 entries…and I think that from eic nobody came….the most appreciable response from 2nd year was from electrical branch and mechanical branch…..
Now let’s start the day….28th march 2010….
I think I should give a pause to it as I am feeling hungry now and I am going to have something to eat and then have to read the lost symbol…..i will continue the saga tomorrow….
Hey but keep giving the comments…..
To be continued………
